Athena 10 for 10 Challenge

As we embark on a decade in business, we have a renewed perspective on how the next 10 years will unfold. In honor of our 10th anniversary, Athena is launching the 10 for 10 Challenge.

Starting in June, this new companywide philanthropic initiative encourages each of our employees to donate 10 hours of community service to select national and Philadelphia-based nonprofit organizations.

“Giving back to the community has been part of Athena’s DNA from the very beginning, inspiring our client work and informing our company culture,” says Athena CEO Maggy Wilkinson. “Our 10th anniversary seemed like the perfect opportunity to share our commitment to helping others with the 10 for 10 Challenge. I’m thrilled to launch this initiative alongside the Athena team to we celebrate this company milestone.”

The charities chosen for the 10 for 10 Challenge reflect the causes that most closely align with the team’s collective interests in giving back to the community including food insecurity, digital equity, animal welfare, homelessness, sustainability, reentry for formerly incarcerated individuals, and organizations focused on improving the lives of women and children.

“The 10 for 10 Challenge is not only an incredible way to positively impact Philadelphia but a new way for the Athena team to build relationships with their coworkers,” says Athena COO Erin Hilgedick-Bury. “We’re leaning into the spirit of competiton by gamifying this project. There will be a leaderboard, department teams and participants can use company time to fulfill their volunteer hours.”

Community values are a cornerstone of our work in the marketing services industry and serve as the foundation for Athena’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Notably, Athena has a partnership with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Supervision to Aid Reentry (STAR) program and is a corporate sponsor with City Year Philadelphia. Other past and present corporate philanthropic work includes Castleman’s Foundation, Children’s Crisis Treatment Center, Commonwealth Youth Choir, MANNA, Mazzoni Center, National Adoption Center, National Domestic Workers Alliance, PAWS, Philabundance and Project HOME.
