Inside Athena’s New Denver Office

Tell us about your role at Athena.
I lead Athena’s analytics and optimization team and support a number of client projects. Our team focuses on identifying data-driven insights for clients and translating that into actionable strategies. While we have expertise across a vast array of data, we specialize in the digital media space. I’m also part of the executive leadership team to support initiatives surrounding broader company strategy and culture.
What is a typical day like for you?
There really is no typical day in the consulting world which is one of my favorite things about this line of work. My days usually consist of a mix of supporting my team and ensuring they have what they need to succeed on their projects, as well as working directly with clients on their broader strategic initiatives. I also lead our account with Cable & Wireless Communications which operates throughout the Caribbean. I love working with clients to help bring their visions to life. Most days include at least a little bit of time creating PowerPoints or other executive reports for clients as well.
You moved to Denver from the East Coast to lead the effort in establishing a second Athena office. What was your personal experience like relocating?
I was extremely excited for this move which made it an easy transition. Athena was very supportive while I made the move and supported the new office ambitions. I’m an avid skier and have started back country skiing since I moved out here. While I miss being near to the ocean during the warmer months, I have found lots of fun places to paddle board throughout Colorado and I’m very slowly picking up golf. This is my first time living outside of the Northeast, so it’s been amazing to be able to jump in the car and explore so many new places. The Colorado sunshine certainly doesn’t hurt either.
Our Denver team allows Athena to easily reach all corners of the country. The Denver economy continues to grow, and the work force here is incredibly strong. We have grown an amazing team and continue to receive strong applicants in Denver.
When did the office open and what can you share about the new space?
Our office opened at the beginning of April. It has been wonderful to have a space to come together and collaborate. Our office in the West Washington Park neighborhood is the best of both worlds since is attached to the Alchemy Creative Workspace while also being its own streetfront. We were fortunate to find an environment that will allow us to continue to grow in Denver while also enjoying the benefits of a shared workspace – various common areas for collaboration, a dog-friendly office policy, kombucha on tap, and happy hours to get to know the other companies based in Alchemy. I can often be found commuting to our new office on my “Athena Blue” moped.
What’s one of your favorite things about living/working in Denver?
Everyone really values activities and hobbies outside of work. The balance of all the conveniences of a city so close to the outdoors leads to the city, as a whole, being very active. We also primarily work East Coast hours in the Denver office, which lets us wrap up our days a bit earlier and really enjoy all that the city and surrounding areas have to offer.
Where do you see the Denver office one year from now?
I definitely see our Denver team continuing to expand as Athena builds a greater presence here. As part of this, I look forward to getting more entrenched in the Denver business community. Giving back is also a big part of Athena’s DNA so we look forward to being involved with local charities and organizations that support the community. We are also looking forward to hosting members of our Philly team and our clients here in Denver!
