Alex Ortiz

Alex brings more than 20 years of Engineering leadership, Brand Marketing, and Construction Project Management experience with him to Athena. As an engineer and manager for Sunoco, Alex helped design turnpike travel plazas, convenience stores, and quick-serve restaurants. He also led the successful roll out of NASCAR branding and imagery into more than 1,100 fueling locations. Alex also ventured into Foodservice Marketing, helping to develop made-to-order food programs and the chain’s first regional fresh food program. Most recently, he added construction project management to his extensive skillset, managing construction for McDonald’s “Experience of the Future” modernization program. Both Alex’s strategic insight and multifaceted approach to problem solving enable him to see the solution and guide it from ideation to completion.

Alex received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University. He is a Philadelphia native and continues to live in the Philly suburbs with his wife and son. In his spare time, he enjoys family trips, singing and songwriting, and coaching youth basketball. At home, you can typically find him making music, watching a movie with his family, or playing video games with his son, AJ.
